A real adventure: the prints

Discover the techniques of high pressures and flat prints

  • The woodcut and linocut

  1. Puzzle printing
  • The printing block is  sawed with the pad saw into individual picture elements like a puzzle

  • After rolling the individual parts, they are reassembled into a whole and printed in one or more operations.

  • Wood cut

  • Apply drawing on a wooden board

  • Everything you should print remains standing, what should not print is cut away

  • The ready-cut woodblocks (from very fine to very coarse cuts) are inked with the roller and applied by pressure onto the paper

  • The lost cut

  • It is made from a single plate, always by the cutting away of the last color sequence
  • The printing block is destroyed by this process at the end, you should provide for enough prints, a pressure of the wooden panel is no longer possible

         Multicolor printing

  • As other printing processes must be prepared for each color a printing plate

  • eighth out when printing, when overprinting pad is exact match
  • Cutting and printing multicolored pictorial compositions requires something bigger skill, skill and experience

    Textile printing

    • As a material for single and multi-colored textile prints,  silk, linen and cotton are particularly well suited

    •  when printing the color on textile  is not  easy assumed to be as on paper, the printing block is pressed fixed

    • put the pressure on the ground floor, place the textile on the printing surface and is walking over with small solid steps (not jump since the printing block can move thereby)

    • If necessary at fine textile, place paper over it  because here the color can pass through

    • Small print irregularities give a special charm and should, if possible not revised

    • You take letterpress ink
